You’ll also be beating the lines in store and skipping the crowds because all wines can be purchased online! Whether you're looking for a gift for your dad, mother-in-law, boss, or even a fellow wino (or yourself... 'tis the season after all!) These wine gift ideas have got you covered and are sure to impress the even the pickiest aficionado.
If you're looking for the white wine lover...
A great Chardonnay is always a great gift - and why not choose one that’s local? Ontario wine is easy to shop either through the winery or through the LCBO online so all the more reason to choose local this holiday season.
This Chardonnay from Closson Chase is one of my favourites - and for good reason! Its got great flavours of tart apples, lemon and vanilla.
If you're looking for something red...
When in doubt Pinot Noir is always a safe gift - usually a light to medium bodied red with moderate tannin, these can be very elegant and make great gifts.
Nautilus Pinot Noir is a great expression of Marlborough Pinot Noir and is an excellent addition to any wino’s wine rack. Enjoy this with mushroom risotto or lamb.
For a more full Pinot Noir - Belle Glos offers ripe and jammy flavours of blackberry and cherry, notes of cocoa and vanilla with velvety tannins. A favourite of mine this season!
If you're looking for something with a little oomph or to age for years to come...
Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon is a steal at less than $25 - and right now it’s on sale for $19.95!
If you’re looking for a splurge - I highly recommend Barbi Brunello di Montalcino. The best Brunello di Montalcino can age for decades, and you don’t need to spend a fortune either. With flavours of tart cherry and raspberry, smoke, cedar and vanilla - this wine will only improve with age.
I hope you find these gift ideas helpful this holiday! What kind of wine do you like to be gifted?
